Attorney: Unauthorized video of Chapman infringed upon her dignity

13:22 30/08/2011

MOSCOW, August 30 - RAPSI. Anna Chapman suffered damage to her honor and dignity after Lifenews shot an unauthorized video of her, Vladimir Krasyukov, Chapmans attorney, stated at a hearing before the Moscow District Court.

Chapman is seeking one million rubles (approximately $34,773) in compensation for moral harm from News Media, which owns Lifenews. The court earlier decided to hold open hearings in Chapmans suit.

According to Chapmans representative, the video, shot in the Baltschug Kempinski Hotel on July 24, 2010, was filmed without the permission of Chapman. Chapman is arguing that the airing of the video infringed upon her honor and dignity and incurred moral damage equal to one million rubles. Krasyukov said that when Chapman came to the Baltschug Kempinski Hotel to meet with actress Angelina Jolie, she did not suppose she would be filmed by the Lifenews internet publication.

Anna Chapman was arrested along with nine other Russian spies in the United States in June 2010. The Russian agents were charged with collusion to spy for the foreign country. In early June, they were exchanged at the Vienna Airport for four Russians convicted of spying against Russia for foreign governments.
