Court to hear claim for Georgian consulate against eviction

15:52 30/08/2011

MOSCOW, August 30 - RAPSI, Sergei Feklyunin. The Moscow Commercial Court has scheduled for Oct. 17 its hearing into a claim filed by the Ostozhenka Business Center on the eviction of the Swiss Embassys Consular Department for Georgian Interests from a mansion on Ostozhenka Street, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency.

The claimant wants the court to take the building from the other partys unlawful possession and recover from the defendant utility and rent payment arrears.

According to the claimant, a 1,000 square meter mansion was rented by the Georgian Embassy until 2001. The building was later rented by the Georgian Locations History Center, which subsequently purchased the mansion in an auction, and then sold the building to the Ostozhenka Business Center in 2007.

The second floor is presently occupied by the Swiss Embassys Consular Department for Georgian Interests, which has served as a consular agency since March 4, 2009 following the break in diplomatic relations between Russia and Georgia after the August 2008 war.

The claimant maintains that the department should be evicted from the building as it has failed to pay its rent and utility bills
