Bulgarian power company sues Russian nuclear power plant builder

MOSCOW, October 7 - RAPSI. National Electric Company (NEK) of Bulgaria submitted to Arbitration Court of Geneva a 61 million euro counterclaim against Atomstroyexport , the press-release of the Bulgarian company reads.

Atomstroyexport is a leading Russian engineering company of the Rosatom state corporation involved in the construction of nuclear power facilities abroad. Atomstroyexport is currently constructing five nuclear power units abroad, including in Bulgaria.

"Atomstroyexport owes NEK 61 million euros under a November 28, 2007 contract," the message reads.

RIA Novosti has yet to obtain comments from the Russian company.

Atomstroyexport filed a lawsuit with the International Arbitration Court of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris in July. The Russian company was seeking to recover 58 million euros for constructing a nuclear plant in Bulgaria.

Atomstroyexport's representative told RIA Novosti that the company sought payment for accomplished works. Atomstroysexport obtained a credit to fulfill construction at the request of the Bulgaria, he said.

The Bulgarian company announced it will file a counterclaim against Atomstroyexport without specifying its claims.
