MOSCOW, October 18 - RAPSI, Dmitry Shchitov. A commercial court of appeals has scheduled for November 8 its hearing of the Rusal aluminum smelter's lawsuit against a power generating company for $828,000 in damages as the result of an accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya power plant, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI).

The Moscow District Federal Commercial Court overruled the appeals court judgment in favor of the Sayanogorsk Aluminum Smelter's (Rusalom) case against RusHydro, and remanded the case for review by trial court rules on September 20.

The accident at the power plant owned by RusHydro took place on August 17, 2009, killing 75 people and deactivating the plant.

The catastrophe completely cut the power supply to the Sayanogorsk and Khakassia aluminum smelters. Rusalom sustained 25 million rubles in losses and sought them from RusHydro through the Moscow Commercial Court.

Rusal is one of the world's leading aluminum companies with a 10-percent share of global aluminum and aluminium oxide production. The company has 76,000 employees. It operates in 19 countries.

RusHydro is Russia's top power-generating company with 60 renewable energy facilities.
