MOSCOW, October 31 - RAPSI, Natalya Belova. A court of appeals registered an appeal filed by National Reserve Bank (NRB) against the Federal Security Service's refusal to recover $11.59 million in compensation for moral harm, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) on Monday.

The NRB is controlled by Russian oligarch Alexander Lebedev.

The date to hear the appeal against the first-instance court's decision has not yet been scheduled.

The bank believes that the service's employee distributed defamatory information about the bank in a report. In its suit, the bank demanded that the service publicly refute the information.

In November 2010, police officers searched the bank's head office and two subsidiary offices. They also seized its documents. The search was held as part of a criminal case on the embezzlement of $165.67 million from the Rossiysky Capital bank, reorganized by the NRB. Lebedev assessed the damages from the aforementioned actions at $49.7 million.

The bank believes the information distributed by the service is not based on actual information and is not grounded in court decisions or the indictments of former or present bank employees.

The bank added that the information on searches was leaked to the press and the bank failed to regain the trust of its clients, which the bank had enjoyed for 15 years since its establishment.
