Domodedovo Airport security system dispute to be heard in court

14:30 07/11/2011

MOSCOW, November 7 - RAPSI, Dmitry Shchitov. A commercial court will hear on November 15 a lawsuit to cancel the watchdog's order on discovering violations in Domodedovo Airport security system, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) on Monday.

The order to schedule a hearing date was issued following the preliminary hearings.

During the November 3 preliminary hearings, the plaintiff submitted an appeal to hold hearings behind closed doors. The lawyer motivated his request with the fact that commercial secrets may be revealed during the hearing.

The lawsuit contains a requirement to dismiss the Federal Service for Supervision of Transport's order obligating three airport subsidiaries to take measures to examine all those entering the airport.

The order was issued following the infamous Domodedovo terrorist attack. The airport was shaken by a terrorist attack on January 24, 2011. It claimed the lives of 37 people, and more than 100 were injured.

The Moscow Regional Commercial Court will reconsider the case based on an application filed by Domodedovo Airport.

The January 27, 2011 order read in part that the facilities at Domodedovo Airport need to be categorized. Additionally, the vulnerability of its facilities and transport must be assessed. The plan to provide the airport's transport security also needs to be developed.
