Supreme Commercial Court hits on creating mobile offices for judges

15:29 25/01/2012

MOSCOW, January 25 - RAPSI, Alyona Yegorova. The Supreme Commercial Court seeks to establish mobile offices for judges to facilitate the public's access to commercial courts, Chairman Anton Ivanov told journalists at an annual conference Wednesday.

"This idea aims to address individual bankruptcy proceedings. The court should be much more accessible and save people from making unneeded journeys to their regional centers to pass their own bankruptcy procedures," he said.

According to Ivanov, a mobile office will be a "teleconferencing point with an assistant judge and a secretary on a permanent basis." The judge will come from time to time to participate in important proceedings."

The public will thus avoid traveling to their regional centers or other cities to contest a judgment in a higher-instance court.

Ivanov noted that teleconferencing developed successfully last year - especially in Siberia and the Far East. A total of 11,356 hearings were conducted by teleconferencing in 2011, although not all courtrooms as of yet have the necessary equipment to participate.
