Medvedev looks to establish IP courts in Russia

14:30 22/10/2012

MOSCOW, October 22 - RAPSI. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes that it is reasonable to set up special courts protecting intellectual property. The prime minister submitted the corresponding proposals on Monday.

"We should think about expanding the proposed concept (to develop the judicial system from 2013 up to 2020) and analyze the judicial system and court activity, including by establishing specialized courts and specifying their jurisdiction," he said.

He noted that the first step in this direction should be made in February 2013 when the Intellectual Property Court should be created in the commercial court system.

A federal target program on the development of the judicial system for 2013-2020 was approved in September. The program's goal is to increase the quality of the justice system, improving the judicial protection of the rights and legal interests of citizens and organizations.
