12:39 15/01/2015

SAMARA, January 15 (RAPSI) – On January 14, a court in Russian city of Samara issued a warrant to arrest a resident of the region on charges of being a member of the international organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is designated as a terrorist organization and prohibited in Russia, Interfax reported on Thursday, citing the Investigative Committee.

The perpetrator has been charged under Criminal Code articles on incitement to terrorism and on participation in a terrorist organization.

According to investigators, the perpetrator promoted Hizb ut-Tahrir, recruited new members for the organization and otherwise encouraged people to support it in Samara from 2012 to April 2014.

In particular, he posted videotapes online with information about Hizb ut-Tahrir, thereby using the Internet as a media outlet.

Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami (Islamic Party of Liberation) has been declared a terrorist organization in many countries. Russia’s Supreme Court prohibited it in 2003. The organization’s goal is to remove non-Muslim governments and to establish Islamic rule on a global scale by creating a “worldwide caliphate.”
