Families of Airbus A321 crash victims to sue plane’s owner for damages - report

MOSCOW, January 11 (RAPSI) – About 100 relatives of people who dead in the Airbus A321 plane crash in Egypt will file with a court in New York a class action lawsuit demanding compensation from the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) which leased out the plane to Russia’s Kogalymavia airlines, Izvestia newspaper reported Monday.

The amount of required compensation would vary from $300,000 to $1.5 million, Igor Trunov, lawyer representing victims’ families, told Izvestia.

The co-defendant in the claim is a company which insured the ILFC risks.

The biggest disaster in the history of Russian and Soviet aviation happened on October 31: Airbus A321 airliner of “Kogalymavia airlines, which was flying from Sharm el Sheikh to St. Petersburg crashed in the Sinai. All 224 people on board including seven crew members died in the crash.
