Sentence of former commercial court’s chief accountant in embezzlement case takes effect

MOSCOW, August 14 (RAPSI, Yevgeniya Sokolova) – A 4-year prison sentence given to ex-chief accountant of the Moscow Region Commercial Court and the 10th Commercial Court of Appeals Natalya Khristosova for embezzling over 20 million rubles (about $333,000) has become effective, the Moscow City Court’s press service told RAPSI on Monday.

The Moscow City Court has dismissed an appeal against the sentence.

Khristosova was convicted and sentenced in April. Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky District Court also ordered the woman to pay about 20.9 million rubles ($347,000) in damages.

According to investigators, from March to December 2013, funds temporarily held by the Moscow Region Commercial Court were transferred to the accounts of firms controlled by Kristosova and her accomplices. According to preliminary data, conspirators embezzled around 16.8 million rubles ($279,000).

Moreover, between July and December 2014, the woman stole over 4 million rubles ($66,500) from the deposit account of the 10th Commercial Court of Appeals in the same way.

As previously reported, Khristosova has pleaded guilty only to embezzling 600,000 rubles ($10,000).
