MOSCOW, May 10 (RAPSI) – The North Caucasus District Military Court has sentenced a native of Russia’s Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Ramazanov to 12 years in prison for preparing a terrorist attack in Stavropol, the court’s spokesperson has told RAPSI.

The court found that the defendant adhered to an ideology of the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in Russia. He illegally purchased and kept fire arms, ammunition, explosives and other components for making improvised explosive devices. The man planned to use his home-made bomb for committing a terrorist attack in places of mass gathering in Stavropol, according to case papers.

Ramazanov failed to consummate the crime because he was arrested by police on April 22, 2017, the court’s spokesperson said.
