Moscow Region’s top official put in detention on corruption allegations
MOSCOW, June 21 (RAPSI) – The Basmanny District Court of Moscow on Friday ordered detention of the head of the Moscow Region’s Pushkino municipal district Yevgeny Zhirkov, who stands charged with receiving a bribe from a construction developer, until August 13, RAPSI learnt from the court’s press service.
According to investigators, in 2015, Zhirkov acting as a head of another Moscow Region’s town Balashikha, received nonresidential premises with a total area of 1,000 square meters in an apartment building under construction from its developer for repeated extension of the object’s substantial completion date and general protection.
Zhirkov was arrested on Friday. Searches were conducted in his premises.
