MOSCOW, February 22 - RAPSI, Sergei Feklyunin. A group of independent observers will cover all polling stations during the upcoming presidential elections, the parliament's lower house representative Pavel Krashennikov said. The group formed by the Russian Lawyers Association's Youth Movement will consist of 95,000 people.
"Members of the movement will make up the group. By the March elections, there will be 95,000 observers covering all the polling stations," he said at the association's meeting on Wednesday.
Krashennikov said lawyers must ensure the election campaign's legal compliance. He highly assessed the youth's initiative to play an active role in the elections.
Krashennikov said any lawyer aged 18 to 35 can join by applying on the group's website.
Presidential elections will be held on March 4. Prokhorov, one of Russia’s richest businessmen, is the only independent candidate to run in the election. However, Putin, Russia’s prime minister, is widely expected to win the vote.
