Russian antimonopoly watchdog calls Google law violator over graduation papers writing ads

MOSCOW, June 26 (RAPSI) – The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) held that Google had violated law by placement of contextual advertisement of writing graduation papers, the watchdog’s statement published on its website reads.

Current legislation bans advertising services on preparing and writing graduation works, dissertations and other papers required by the state academic merit rating system and needed final or interim attestation.

However, Google has placed such ads since December 2018, the watchdog states.

According to the FAS, as Google LLC., being the ads distributor, is liable for statutory non-compliance, an administrative case will be launched against the company; and it could face a fine of up to 500,000 rubles ($8,000).
