KIEV, October 14 - RAPSI. Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko so far has no defense attorneys in the new case against her and is making her choice now, Serhiy Vlasenko, an opposition parliamentary deputy who defended her in the "gas case," said on Friday.

A Kiev district court sentenced Tymoshenko on October 11 to seven years in prison for abuse of power in signing gas contracts between Ukrainian Naftogaz and Russian Gazprom in 2009.

On Thursday, the Ukrainian Security Service reported that its investigator interrogated Tymoshenko as part of a new criminal case filed against her for the attempted large-scale embezzlement of state funds. The case concerns a debt of $405 million, which Tymoshenko's United Energy Systems of Ukraine has owed to the Russian Defense Ministry since 1996.

Tymoshenko's website quoted Vlasenko as saying: "As of today, Yulia Tymoshenko does not have a lawyer in this case. Tymoshenko informed the investigator yesterday that she has not determined this yet."
