About 100 cultural rights applications submitted to Russian ombudsman in 2018

MOSCOW, April 23 (RAPSI) – Russia’s High Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova received nearly 100 applications concerning the problems of cultural rights protection, a statement released on the ombudsman’s website reads.

According to the official of the ombudsman’s office Vladimir Lozbinev, cultural rights are not high-priority for the citizens, that’s why the amount of such complaints is small. However, in 2018, there was a rise in such applications due to the running of FIFA World Cup in Russia, he stated.

Most of applications are connected to the preservation and protection of historical and cultural heritage sites, violation of cultural rights in the spheres of TV, Internet and tourism services.
